The Legend of Quandale Dingle VII

Whats up guys, its quandale dingle

The Legend of Quandale Dingle VII: A Test of Thyme is an RPGMaker2k3 game I made when I was in high school. It was a small side project I wanted to do while I was developing PROJECT ROBOT.

This is moreso a "joke game," as it's very shittily put together with terrible balancing and progression. It was never meant to be a full release game, but rather something to help guide me through basic game design as a solo-developer.

Despite the lack of quality, I still hold this game very dear to my heart, not only because it's the first game I've released, but also because I had so much fun developing it.

In my opinion, RPGMaker isn't necessarily the best choice for a game engine, but it has great potential for both prototyping and, well, RPGs. Despite this, working within the limitations of a game engine made in 2003 is a fun challenge, especially for those who love retro games.

As a solo developer, there comes a pride and joy like no other when you step back from your project, and appreciating your craft, and this game is no exception.

Reguardless of the crappy gameplay, I still think some of the jokes and gags I wrote in are pretty funny, which makes this game worth revisiting from time to time.

It's funny too, since I was in highschool when I made this, this game has almost become a tressure trove of obscure triva, references, and inside jokes. I actually sprited an NPC based on my ex-girlfriend, who still lives on in the game to this day.

In terms of a remaster/overhaul of this game, while the chances are very unlikely, I think revisitng this game and trying to improve upon it would be really fun. On the Itch.io page, I make it clear that the game was HEAVILY inspired by John "Joy" Tay's album of the same name. As a matter of fact, I covered a few of Joy's songs for this game.

On the topic of music, I can't believe I made an entire video game OST. Seriously, this game has an entire sountrack of original songs (and two covers). What kind of shit was I smoking back then?

PROJECT PIZZA

Welcome to the "Pre-Prototype"

While I haven't shown off much of this game online, I think I've finally reached a stage where I'm comfortable enough to showcase this online. For the time being, let's call this PROJECT PIZZA.

PROJECT PIZZA is a 2D side-scroller with an emphasis on speed and exploration. Crash and bash your way through Amythyst City as Trevor, the main character.

PROJECT PIZZA is HEAVILY inspired by:

Ultimately, the goal for this project is to make a video game that's fun, replayable, and most importantly, the game is actually fucking fun to play.

As an indie developer, my long term goal is to make STUFF, not SLOP. When I say slop, I'm refering specifically to mass produced, AAA garbage that bloats your system and drains your wallet with microtransactions. We are in the ripe year of 2026, and AAA developers continue to shoot themselves in the foot by releasing dogshit after horseshit. While I can't call myself a professional game designer, I really want to take the elements from those afformentioned AAA games, take notes, and see what they do WRONG, so that I can do it RIGHT.

Speaking of microtransactions. If this game ever does become successful enough to wager new updates after launch (such as patches/small additions,) I plan on adding additional DLC level packs, not to milk out monitization, but to provide additional content for any existing fans. However, this is beyond the scope of what I'm currently working on, so these post launch ideas will have to wait.

April 2025 Prototype Footage

As of March 2026, the prototype is nearing the end of completion and will be avalible to play on itch.io. Furthermore, I will be posting dev logs and updates overtime to showcase development and get community feedback from YOU, yes, you heard me right! YOU!.
